I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS | BOOK REVIEW | IAIN REID

When I first read the name of the book I thought that the main character is thinking of ending his/her life but that is not what the story is about. It is in a way but I will not give any spoilers. (Oh, I just did! :D)

This book is way too much for me to understand. A lot of it went whoosh. I don't even know why I started reading it in the first place. I think the name of the book attracted me. But by the end, things had stopped making sense. But something about it made me wanna know that what will happen in the end. I somehow managed to read it till the end. It was only 150 pages I think. It was less. I have read books with 500 pages. So I was like "Ok this won't be hard".
Well, it was hard, because now I don't understand the whole book.

The main characters are the narrator who is a girl and a boy named Jake. Jake is the narrator's boyfriend. The girl had qualities like overthinking, enjoying solitude and getting headaches because of lack of sleep. There is also a creepy guy who calls the girl for no reason. What's interesting is that when the call comes it shows that the girl is getting a call by her own number, on her own phone, but when she picks it up a guy speaks on the other line. Now, if that's not scary then what is? What's more creepy is that he always calls in the middle of the night and leaves voicemails that make no sense. Again, SCARY!

The book is not bad. The characters are good.  I wanted to know how it ends and will she end things? The narration is on point. I got a lot of good quotes from the book. I will publish them. And you can also read the book for yourself. I liked that there were two stories going on at the same time.

A lot of parts are scary. As soon as she decided to enter the school I knew something was going to happen and it did. At one point I was sure that a ghost or a three-legged monster is going to pop out of the corner. (Spoilers - That didn't happen)

The book is like the book version of Shutter Island. I mean it made sense in the start but as the story escalated, it made less and less sense. By the end, logic had jumped out of the window. Why I say that is because the girl started using We and Us instead of I and Me as pronouns. I mean how is that possible? And what is happening? So many questions!

I would rate it 3.5 out of 5. I would recommend reading this book if you have free time. If this is your first book then two things can happen. You will either just lose faith in reading books or you can actually get to know the thrill one has while reading a book. How much thought goes into understanding a non-understandable book. Trust me you will have fun. If not fun then for sure a creepy feeling.

I'm thinking of reading it again. Just for the sake of understanding it. But I don't think that will bring any joy to my head. Because now I have a headache. Trust me it went Whoosh!

If you are interested in thrillers and scary books you should read it then.
